VP of Engineering

We are hiring a VP, Engineering to lead our talented team of engineers across our application, data, and core infrastructure teams.

As the VP of Engineering at AcuityMD, you will be a key member of our leadership team, responsible for shaping and executing our technical vision and delivering on customer value. You will lead a team of ~40 passionate engineers, drive product development, and ensure the scalability, performance, and reliability of our platform. This role requires a seasoned and empathetic leader with a proven track record of scaling diverse and remote engineering teams and delivering innovative software and data platforms. You will report to the CEO and work cross-functionally on the leadership team, collaborating with our Head of Product and CTO.

The Team

We are scaling an exceptional Engineering team to develop and deliver innovative solutions for the MedTech industry. The team includes Applications, Data, Integrations, and Core Infrastructure engineers. The Application Team handles web and mobile applications, focused on building workflows that help accelerate adoption of new medical technologies. The team focuses on product features and improving core components and APIs. The Data Team is building a comprehensive data asset for Medical Device companies. This data asset powers our workflow solution used by leading MedTech companies. The team’s capabilities span data infrastructure, analytics engineering, data discovery, data modeling, machine learning, and business intelligence. The Core Infrastructure Team will manage our cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability across all engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team by providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
  • Product Development and Delivery: Collaborate with product management and cross-functional teams to develop and execute a product roadmap, delivering high-quality software products on predictable timelines.
  • Engineering Excellence: Establish and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes to maintain high-quality code and system reliability.
  • Innovation: Foster a culture of customer centricity, innovation, and continuous improvement within the engineering team, exploring emerging technologies and tools to drive competitive advantage.
  • Resource Allocation: Effectively manage engineering resources, budgets, and third-party vendors to optimize productivity and cost efficiency.
  • Scalability: Architect and scale the company's technical infrastructure to support rapid growth, ensuring it remains robust and efficient.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical and security risks, proactively addressing potential roadblocks to product development.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment.
  • Direct experience scaling an Engineering organization from 20 → 100+ engineers
  • Strong technical background with expertise in building enterprise-grade workflow software and data platforms
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Results-driven with a focus on delivering high-quality software products on time and within budget.
  • Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of market trends and emerging technologies
