About Us

B2B distribution is broken. Let's fix it.

We are a team of engineers, product designers, and customer champions applying the most transformative technology of our times, AI, to one of the largest industries in the world: B2B distribution and logistics. Our mission is to streamline B2B distributor and freight operations through automation, freeing teams to focus on high-value strategic work.

In our prior lives, we have built multi-billion-dollar companies with products that delighted thousands of merchants and powered billions of dollars in commerce.

We are looking for intelligent, driven people with insatiable curiosity and a desire to make an impact. If you’re excited to work with AI that can reason and take action, like humans, in one of the most complex industries in the world, apply below.

Overview

As a Solutions Engineer at Augment, you will act as a hands-on builder and trusted technical partner for our customers. You’ll own the design and delivery of integrations, automations, and AI-powered workflows that help brokerages, carriers, and 3PLs get live faster and scale successfully. This role is equal parts technical and customer-facing: you’ll prototype and troubleshoot solutions, guide customers through onboarding, and bridge the gap between sales, product, and customer success. Your goal is to turn complex business problems into working solutions — driving adoption, unlocking value from our AI platform, and setting customers up for long-term success.

What You’ll Do:

  • You’ll sit at the intersection of engineering, product, and customers — building real solutions that prove value fast and scale in production.

Customer-Facing Engineering

  • Partner with sales, product, and operations on discovery calls, workshops, and design sessions.

  • Translate customer business problems into technical architectures, workflows, and integration roadmaps.

  • Act as a technical champion during onboarding, removing blockers and guiding implementations.

Prototyping & Integration

  • Rapidly prototype integrations, automations, or agent workflows to validate fit and feasibility.

  • Move prototypes into production-level code, collaborating with engineering on scalability, testing, monitoring, and reliability.

  • Build and maintain SDKs, API clients, connectors, and middleware for customer systems.

  • Establish and implement best practices for data modeling, prompt engineering, agent orchestration, and error handling.

Feedback & Enablement

  • Capture customer feedback and clearly articulate it to product & engineering for roadmap prioritization.

  • Produce design docs, integration guides, technical documentation, and training materials.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years in a solutions engineering, forward-deployed engineering, or similar technical role in a high-growth software environment.

  • Proven ability to design, prototype, and ship integrations, automations, or connected applications with autonomy.

  • Hands-on experience with AI/LLM tooling — e.g. LLM frameworks, orchestration platforms, or building workflows with agents and prompts.

  • Exposure to at least one modern programming language (Python, TypeScript, Go, or similar) — enough to debug, troubleshoot, and build proofs of concept.

  • Strong experience working directly with APIs, SDKs, webhooks, or integration layers.

  • Background in customer-facing work (discovery calls, technical workshops, or implementations).

  • Ability to translate customer problems into technical solutions and architectures.

  • Comfort working in early-stage, dynamic environments without detailed playbooks.

  • Excellent communication skills — able to present to both technical and business stakeholders.

Bonus Points For:

  • Domain exposure in logistics, supply chain, or system integrations (WMS, TMS, ERP, etc.).

  • Familiarity with APIs, webhooks, queues, messaging systems, or event-driven architecture.

  • Experience with data pipelines, transformations, or orchestration frameworks.

  • Prior work in AI-focused startups or tooling.

Location

  • Chicago, IL (regular in-office collaboration)
