About the Role:

The Director, Employee Relations & Compliance is responsible for developing processes and policies related to employee relations, managing and resolving highly complex employee relations issues, conducting thorough investigations into workplace complaints, and providing guidance and support to both employees and leaders across the Cityblock business.. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong understanding of employment laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Champions and nurtures our culture, values, and mission as we integrate and scale the Cityblock business portfolio

  • Develop and implement employee relations strategies, policies, and programs to support a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

  • Lead and oversee the resolution of complex employee relations issues, including investigations, disciplinary actions, grievances, and conflict resolution.

  • Provide expert guidance and consultation to HR business partners, managers, and leaders on employee relations matters, ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies and employment laws.

  • Collaborate with legal counsel and compliance teams to ensure HR practices and policies comply with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

  • Conduct training and development programs for managers and HR professionals on effective employee relations practices, conflict resolution techniques, and workplace harassment prevention.

  • Coordinate and facilitate investigations training and other ER learning and development activities.

  • Develop metrics and analytics to monitor employee relations trends, identify areas of concern, and implement strategies to address issues and improve employee relations outcomes.

  • Work collaboratively across the People team to review, recommend, and implement changes to processes to ensure optimization, streamlining, and compliance

  • Work with the HR Business Partner team to ensure the appropriate processes are in place to manage employee relations issues with respect to local practice and laws.

  • Stays abreast of leading and emerging employee relations practices. Maintains current knowledge of trends, legal decisions and statutory changes (EEO, ADA etc.). Partners with Human Resources colleagues to ensure compliance with local, state and federal labor and employment laws across Cityblock.

  • Ensures all employee relations policies, processes and practices are up to date, relevant, communicated and working well. In particular, ensures the employee performance improvement process and all involuntary termination processes including reductions in force are documented and well executed.

  • Develop and manage leave of absence policies and practices as it relates to employee and business impact, including disability, worker’s comp, and accommodation programs.

Requirements for the Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • SHRM-SCP or SPHR preferred

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in employee relations, labor relations, or HR compliance, preferably in a leadership role.

  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices related to employee relations and labor relations.

  • Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with tact and diplomacy.

  • Proven track record of successfully leading employee relations initiatives and programs in a large, complex organization.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights to drive employee relations strategies.

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.

We take into account an individual’s qualifications, skillset, and experience in determining final salary. This role is eligible for health insurance, life insurance, retirement benefits, participation in the company’s equity program, paid time off, including vacation and sick leave. The actual offer will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by relevant business considerations, including the final candidate’s qualifications, years of experience, skillset, and geographic location. The expected salary range for this position is:

$133,000 to $155,000
