About the Role
We are looking for a People Operations Coordinator to join our People team at Cockroach Labs. In this role, you will report to the HR Operations Lead and be responsible for executing aspects of the HR function at the tactical level. This role plays a crucial part in the coordination and execution of various HR activities and requires a high level of flexibility and attention to detail.
You Will
- Monitor required new hire compliance, including background checks, I-9 administration, anti-harassment, information security training, and new hire acknowledgments.
- Initiate employment setup domestically and internationally.
- Respond to employee inquiries providing guidance and support on company policies and systems with a sense of urgency and confidentiality.
- Process employee changes as needed.
- Maintain consistent and accurate employee data across multiple people systems, ensuring reliable information for decision-making, reporting, and compliance purposes.
- Support our learning and development initiatives through vendor management, scheduling, and feedback collection.
- Contribute to HR projects and initiatives, such as process improvements, HR system implementations, and policy updates.
The Expectations
In your first 30 days, you will become familiar with Cockroach Labs’ HR policies, procedures, and systems. You should have a good understanding of our employee onboarding process and be able to assist in basic tasks such as responding to employee inquiries and maintaining employee records. By the end of this period, you should be comfortable working with our team and actively contributing to our daily operations.
By your first 60 days, you will take on more responsibility in HR functions. You will have built positive relationships with employees across the organization and have gained their trust in handling HR-related matters regarding onboarding, managing employee data, and replying to their inquiries. By this point, you should have a solid understanding of HR compliance regulations and be able to provide guidance to employees on basic HR policies and procedures.
After three months, you will be integrated into the team, consistently providing support and contributing to its success. You should have a comprehensive understanding of our HR practices and actively participate in our team’s ongoing initiatives and new projects
You Have
- Keen attention to detail and the ability to maintain data through process controls and auditing
- Solid time management and multi-tasking skills and the flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of a start-up technology company
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including the ability to maintain confidentiality as appropriate
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong ability to establish and maintain effective relationships throughout the organization.
- The ability and willingness to ask questions about different ways we can tackle processes and programs
- Must maintain absolute confidentiality and safeguard sensitive and highly confidential data at all times.
- Proficiency with or ability to quickly learn business tools (e.g. GoogleSuite, HRIS) and a remarkable ability to adapt to new systems.
The Team
As part of the People team division, you will work within the People Operations and Development team. The POD team is led by Lauren Weber, Director of People Operations, and is responsible for HR Operations, HR Business Partners and Talent Development, and Total Rewards.
Reporting to Fatima Ruiz, HR Operations Lead
Fatima leads our HR Operations team and is responsible for HR Policies and Compliance, HR Systems, People Analytics, and our Onboarding, Immigration, and Global Mobility programs. The annual anticipated base salary range for U.S. candidates for this role is USD $70,000 to $95,000, plus commission if a sales role. We set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Actual salaries may vary and fall outside of this range depending on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, geographic location, skills, experience, and competencies. In addition, we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. Salaries for candidates outside the U.S. will vary based on local compensation structures.
