About the Role

As Senior Counsel, Product and Regulatory, you will help us design and bring domestic and international products to market. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, Partnerships, Marketing, Finance, and other business teams to provide legal and regulatory advice through all phases of the product life cycle. You will drive and support complex, cross-functional projects and represent the company externally in partner negotiations and regulatory matters.

What You’ll Do

  • Embed with business teams to build new fintech products and operations

  • Structure and negotiate complex partnerships with financial institutions, payment services providers, technology platforms, and other entities that provide or support financial services

  • Analyze and provide guidance on state, federal, and international regulatory, privacy, intellectual property, and marketing issues, and the implications of product development and marketing strategies

  • Draft product terms of use and privacy policies

  • Understand and advise on licensing and compliance issues

  • Support marketing teams, develop content policies, and review marketing collateral

  • Select and manage outside counsel

What You Need

  • J.D. with a strong academic background and the highest level of integrity

  • Membership in at least one state bar and ability to register as NY in-house counsel (NY Bar preferred)

  • Minimum 7 years of legal experience, with 4 years providing product, regulatory, and transactional counsel at (or for) a technology company

  • Desire to act as a legal generalist

  • Significant experience negotiating and supporting regulated partnerships

  • Proven ability to understand complex business and regulatory issues and translate them into actionable guidance

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple cross-functional projects simultaneously, and manage resource allocation to focus on the highest-priority needs

  • Familiarity with payments preferred

  • Experience working at a top law firm preferred
