Associate Software Engineer - RHEL Distribution Team

The RHEL Distribution team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will contribute to the development of Red Hat’s mission-critical systems and enable the smooth production and rapid release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). You will play a key role in building and operating the next-generation cloud-native distribution pipeline for RHEL, helping to deliver content to external customers and partners. As part of a cross-functional team, you will collaborate with Software Engineers, Release Engineers, and Quality Engineering colleagues to develop and maintain the services and infrastructure responsible for building and shipping Red Hat products. Working in an Agile environment, you will have the opportunity to engage with OpenShift, CI/CD pipeline and more, to ensure that our products and services stay modern and efficient.

What you will do
Actively Participate on a scrum team
Learn and understand the technologies involved
Design, develop, test, and maintain software
Participate in the release engineering discipline, and work needed to keep the distribution pipeline functional
Complete tasks on a given timeline
Communicate work progress,s which may include delays or changing the completion date
Ensure test plans for the code you create exist and that documentation is correct
Effectively navigate and adapt to a dynamic environment to ensure success and efficiency.
What you will bring
Practical experience with Python programming language
Software Development experience in Linux environment
Experience with Linux command line tools and utilities
Experience with Git and concepts of source code management
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
Solid written and verbal English communication skills
The following will be considered a plus:
Knowledge or experience with Golang
Experience with Continuous Integration / Delivery
Knowledge of Database technologies
Understanding of how Open Source and Free Software communities work
Experience with code-reviews
