💻 Role

The Whatnot Finance team consists of Corporate Finance, Strategic Finance, Tax, and Accounting. The Accounting team is responsible for financial reporting, year-end audits, and accounting operations.

  • Month-End Close: Responsible for monthly revenue close, which includes detailed analytics, review of transaction process of domestic and global revenue streams.
  • Assist the monthly financial close by recording journal entries, maintaining accurate supporting documentation, and preparing and reviewing account reconciliations
  • Operational: Contract review of customer and marketing agreements, working closely with cross functional teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Ad Hoc Projects and requests: Support external audit requirements related to specific areas of responsibility, tackle one off and ad-hoc projects as necessary
  • Manage assigned projects and collaborate with cross-functional team members in delivering impactful, high quality information to our business partners

As our next Accounting Associate you should have 3.5+ years professional accounting experience, preferably a combination of private and public accounting, plus:

  • BA/BS in Accounting; CPA is desired
  • Detailed understanding of month-end close processes and thorough US GAAP expertise
  • Experience in e-commerce/tech industries preferred
  • Advanced Excel and data manipulation skills
  • Proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment while running tight deadlines
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, takes initiative to simplify and improve processes


For US-based applicants: $95,000/year to $125,000/year + benefits + stock options

The salary range may be inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be based on a number of factors including, level, relevant prior experience, skills and expertise. This range is only inclusive of base salary, not benefits (more details below) or equity in the form of stock options.
