Responsibilities

The product design team at Workato is a tight-knit, collaborative team with a relentless focus on building the best experience for our users. We work fast, bias towards action, and aren’t afraid to fail. Above all, we believe that enterprise UX should have the same usability, reliability, and delight that we have come to expect from consumer apps. We are seeking early career Interaction designers who know the basics of the craft, and are willing to learn and uplevel themselves. You’ll work with a passionate group of designers, product managers, and front-end engineers to see your features through from planning to implementation. You’ll use your full range of skills from product design, interaction design, and visual design to design the future of work.

In this role, you will also be responsible to:

  • Understand the scope of requirements, question assumptions, and work with the research team to better understand user mental models.

  • Translate ideas into viable, and quality solutions using the appropriate tooling and fidelity that's needed based on what state the project is in. This can range from low fidelity drawings to detailed precise specifications for the UI team.

  • Define user journey and task flow for the project.

  • Choose appropriate design patterns, and have a strong justification for your choice.

  • Whenever required, prototype your ideas using Figma or CodePen. This includes working on micro-interactions that elevate product experience.

  • Approach your work with a system and scalability mindset. Always be curious to learn how a design can complement or conflict with other parts of the product.

  • Write clear, concise copy for your projects in consultation with a content designer.

Requirements

Qualifications / Experience / Technical Skills

  • Graduates with a Bachelors or Masters degree in HCI, Human factors, UX, New Media or Design, and 5+ years of experience. Or self-taught designers with 5+ years of experience shipping quality products.
  • A portfolio that clearly demonstrates your work.

  • A refined aesthetic sense to both work within and expand upon Workato’s style.

  • Ability to present, justify and defend your design decisions to stakeholders.

  • Experience with motion design, esp using HTML, CSS, JS and other front-end technologies, is a big plus.

Soft Skills / Personal Characteristics

  • A drive to always understand the technical limitations behind your design decisions and be willing to learn how to communicate your ideas to our engineers.

  • Proactiveness to learn and actively look for opportunities to improve the product in innovative ways.

  • The penchant to stay up-to-date on the latest design trends and patterns and have the ability to critique them.

  • Being open to feedback and constructive criticism.

For California applicants, the pay for this role begins at $140,000 plus benefits, perks, and equity.
