Responsibilities

As an Applications Engineer for Growth Products at Workato, you will play a pivotal role in architecting and developing cutting-edge solutions that leverage artificial intelligence to drive automation and innovation. Your extensive experience in software engineering, coupled with your passion for AI technologies, will drive the evolution of our GenAI Apps - built on Workato’s core Enterprise Orchestration platform.

  • Gain comprehensive expertise in Workato and build solutions that democratize AI, making it easily accessible and usable by both technical experts and business users.

  • Create lightweight, world-class apps in key functional areas to contribute to our GenAI app marketplace.

  • Contribute to cross-functional projects with product management, design, and other engineering teams.

  • Apply quality assurance practices, including automated testing, code reviews, and active participation in debugging and troubleshooting.

  • Collaborate closely with go-to-market teams, providing essential support during product launches.

Requirements

Qualifications / Experience / Technical Skills

  • Proven experience in building GenAI-based bots/agents, with a portfolio or examples of past projects.

  • Hands-on experience with prompt engineering for leading Large Language Models (LLMs) such as OpenAI's GPT, Claude by Anthropic, Gemini by Google, and the ability to rapidly prototype, iterate, and optimize GenAI applications will be considered a significant plus.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams, collaborating with designers, product managers, and other engineers.

  • 3-6 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Architect, or similar.

  • Strong proficiency in agile methodologies, embodying principles of adaptive planning, evolutionary development, early delivery, and continuous improvement.

  • Expertise in scripting and coding with a strong foundation in GenAI concepts; proficient in languages such as Ruby, Python, or Java.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in team settings and communicate complex ideas clearly.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science (MBA preferred).

For California applicants, the pay for this role begins at $90,000 plus benefits, perks, and equity.
